Finishing Classes
As classes are wrapping up, it suddenly dawns on me how much I have not finished; how suddenly everything that wasn't due until April is actually this week. I feel so glad now that the incredible swelling in my face has gone now and I can stop popping painkillers like... a drug popper I guess. That did not help with my whole getting all my homework finished program. Missing a week of classes can feel like a holiday, except if you have a pile of things to do while living in a constant pain which plays interference in doing anything productive. And now as the swelling disappears and the dentist now books me in for a root canal, I panic as I write my essay, e-portfolio and online class final project. I only pray that I can somehow finish it all in time. Wish me luck everyone.

E-Portfolio
Why have you chosen to complete an e-portfolio?
I have chosen an e-portfolio because I feel that a web quest isn't as practical for use in a PAA setting as other classes. I want to use my portfolio for help in getting hired.
What professional uses does an e-portfolio have for you?
I plan on using this during my interview and hiring process to assist in showing my skills as a PAA teacher and educator.
What content do you plan to include?
I plan on including example unit and lesson plans I have written, project ideas for different shop areas and levels, my resume and more. I would like to have a picture of myself with some write up example of who I am and what I do.
What graphic design considerations have you taken into account for the look of your e-portfolio?
(Include a drawing, sketch or layout to show what you pages may look like.)
I don't plan on doing anything too radical, but what I imagine it to look like would be using a dark background with white lettering. Easy navigation bar on the right with a heading at the top with an e-portfolio banner. If you want me to draw something for you, I'll hand that in for next class.
What concerns do you have about the process? How do you plan to address these concerns?
I'm wondering if I'll have enough content that I could include into my e-portfolio, or if the look I'm imagining isn't very professional. I could just change how my portfolio looks, and I believe I could use more in depth content from my internship to help fill out my portfolio, possibly contact a few people to help gather extra resources.

Vacation is Over
It is with a heavy heart as I return to the grind of classes and work. After a week off, it can be really hard to get back into gear. My wife and I have just returned from holidays with the family and it was a magnificent time. Nothing but sleep, hot-tub, games, nap, eat and repeat. It was a time of bonding and recuperation, and now is where I return to all that I was recuperating from. I return to realize that I have two essays due, one this week and one next. Return to find that I have two interviews this week and I was now taking the last available interview time available because being out in the middle of nowhere makes contact difficult. Also I missed my little brother's birthday and he's the youngest of five with none left at home... All in all what I have to say is that the holiday's were amazing, just wish that life didn't move on while your putting it on pause.

Post Valentine's Day
Now I realize that yesterday was Valentines Day, and yes I also feel horrible that I didn't do anything special for my wife. You must at this point think me crazy or just never want to sleep another day not on the couch, but let me explain myself. So Monday night my wife and I are responsible for watching, running, organizing and making sure no one dies at our weekly youth event. This wasn't my idea (fortunately), but my wife decided that we shall still do youth, and move our Valentine's day celebration to another day (that's up to my discretion). However the entire Valentine's day long I felt horrible. Ever have that feeling that everyone else got the memo except for you and you are just out of it? Heading into Safeway and viewing the vast expanse of flower buyers and drifting through with your wife... I looked like some stone cold husband with no soul. I'll make it up to her... I just have yet to make any plans... *sigh*

All in a good weekend
I realized suddenly that at the end of this weekend I have 3 seperate assignments/papers due. Now that I have awoken from the brain drain slumber I am proud to say that I have completed each of these assignments and handed them in on time. Not only did I just do homework, but working two seperate wok shifts. I have to say my weekend was not all I wanted it to be cracked up to be.
Although with the purchase of ice cream, I am now able to exercise my mad smoothie making skills. The talking around the watering hole of work finds my female co-workers upset at my trim physique while I relay them how supper was ice-cream, fruit and sugar in a blender followed by a movie. I'm sure it'll catch up to me someday, however I might as well take advantage while I can.
Hopefully my next weekend is more eventful, I'll keep you all updated.

Welcome to the Neighbourhood
As a first post I just want to welcome you to my blog. I'd like to think that the information I'll post on here will be interesting, informative, or at least not boring. I somehow think that won't always meet those expectations. This is a post involving what I'm interested in, what I do with my life and what's keeping me from doing homework. I hope you enjoy this blog and maybe someday this will transform into something more than a journal, however we'll write about that later.
